I tried a few options for downloading documents from GoogleDocs, some methods are geared more for synchronising one document at a time but I needed something to take a full backup of all my GoogleDocs for offline sharing. I found the Google Doc Download Greasemonkey script was best.
Google Doc Download (Greasemonkey Script)
I visited the Firefox Addons page and first installed Greasemonkey and DownThemAll. Then I visited http://1st-soft.net/gdd/ and installed the GDD script which allows ticking multiple documents and downloading them in the format of your choice.
OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs
I had tried the OpenOffice.org Extension for Importing and Exporting Google Docs (http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/ooo2gd) with the aim of saving some of the documents locally for a colleague and it seemed good but I experienced an occasional problem
Sorry, but this browser does not support web word processing
so I decided to try something else, although I will still use this extension in future.
Firefox Universal Uploader
Available to download from Firefox Addons site this allowed me to connect to Google Docs but didn't work as I wanted. May try this again in future and could be useful for connecting to PicasaWeb for downloading backed up photos.
